KIM’S KORNER
October 2023
We would like to take time to say “Thank You” to everyone who donated and participated in the Boot Scootin’ Bash that Shelby Seniors Services and Girls, Inc/Shelby County put together on September 9. It was a great fundraiser for both organizations. We feel that fun was had by all. Our two agencies are grateful for what was raised and it will help us continue our missions. Shelby Senior Services uses this money to help further what we do to provide services and programs to seniors and their families of Shelby County. Without all of the community coming together to make this night possible, we could not continue to provide the wonderful work that our staff does. We cannot say thank you enough. It took a lot of work, time, and donations to pull this night off. Shelby Senior Services would like to thank Girls, Inc. for collaborating with us on this wonderful adventure.
It is time for Medicare Open Enrollment from October 16 thru December 5, 2023. During this time, Medicare plan enrollees can reevaluate their coverage- whether its original Medicare with a supplement and supplement drug coverage or Medicare Advantage – and make changes or purchase new policies if they want to do so. Shelby Senior Services helps with this by providing space for SHIP counselor, Kathy McFarland, during this time to help with any questions and assist in finding the plan that will best cover what each person needs. Our SHIP counselor would be glad to meet with you during these dates to help with these decisions. Please contact Shelby Senior Services at 2120 Intelliplex Dr, Suite 101, Shelbyville or call 317-398-0127 to set up an appointment to meet with Kathy.
