A planned gift is just what it sounds like – a gift that a donor plans now but will make in the future. There are several different kinds of planned gifts, the most popular being a charitable bequest in your will. Making a charitable bequest is easy. Simply ask our attorney to draft a statement in your will that explains the details of your gift.
You have three options for making a charitable bequest:
- You may give the entire residue of your estate, which is everything that is left in your estate after all of your debts and taxes have been paid.
- You may give a percentage (e.g., 10%, 25%, 40%, etc.) of the amount that remains in your estate after all of your debts and taxes have been paid.
- You may give a specifically stated dollar amount.

Your money goes directly to programs and services that benefit the senior citizens of Shelby County.
