KIM’S KORNER
May 2022
May is Older American’s Month! This year’s theme is “Age My Way”. This may mean different things to different people. When I think of this theme, I think of how everyone is so different in how we think, how we age, how we communicate, and how we respond to the world around us. Being considered a senior is anyone 60 and older. If you look around you, seniors respond differently and look different. Some seniors have hair in all shades, some have lines from the years of wisdom that they have and some bodies get tired earlier than others. Shelby Senior Services tries to do our part in keeping mind, body and souls as active and moving as possible. We have many different programs and activities to try to keep seniors moving and safe. With Activities Directors and our Health and Wellness Coordinator we hope to continue to come up with new and exciting programs that people want to come and participate in. This includes things such as yoga, Health Healthy series, art programs, etc.
We want seniors to feel comfortable and welcome at our Horizon Centers in Fairland, Morristown, Shelbyville and Waldron. We want you to feel that you can share your suggestions for new programs that you would like us to try to bring to the centers. Please come out and see what we have to offer to you, the seniors of Shelby County. Please feel free to call us at 317-398-0127, stop by at 2120 Intelliplex Dr, Suite 101, Shelbyville, IN 46176, or by email at www.shelbyseniorservices.org.
