KIM’S KORNER

February 2021

Wow, it’s February all ready.  My how time flies as they say.  Many things are happening in our little neck of the woods.  When you look at what is going on around you, many things have changed.  We are doing our activities virtually and in person as able to do so.  We are doing a drive-thru senior food pantry once a month.  We are still doing a delivery of food for our shut in seniors.  We are changing the place where the AARP taxes are done and the entire process.  Shelby Senior Services’ staff is still taking appointments for taxes but they are actually being done at the Shelby County Library.  We are currently not able to have congregate meals at the Horizon Centers but CICOA is still dropping off frozen meals and seniors are picking up two weeks worth and taking them home. We are still providing the support and services that we have offered but the way they are offered may look a little bit different.  We are continuing to check on the seniors that are in our database to see if they have any needs whether it be to help sign up to go get vaccines, get groceries or pharmacy needs, or even just to talk for little while because they have been shut in the house and haven’t had any visitors during COVID-19.  The moral of this story is that things may look a bit different but Shelby Senior Services is still here for the seniors of Shelby County and we are answering our phones and are here to help or to connect you with the information that you are seeking. Please give us a call at 317-398-0127, stop by at 1504 S Harrison St, Shelbyville, or email us at www.shelbyseniorservices.org.  Shelby Senior Services wants to be your One Stop Shop for seniors in Shelby County.
