April showers bring May flowers as they say. Isn’t that something to look forward to? It’s wonderful that everything is in bloom and the grass gets greener every day before our eyes. We look forward to the changes coming in the near future. The future’s looking bright. As May is ushered in with all the beauty, we are seeing more seniors out and about. Everyone is ready to get out of their home and see their friends, especially because people have been staying home more and trying to be safe due to COVID. We at Shelby Senior Services are happy to say that we are opening up a little more with the restrictions in place due to COVID. We are allowing a few more people in the Horizon Centers. Morristown and Waldron Horizon Centers are opening up this month and Shelbyville and Fairland remain open as well. Our Staff is ready to see everyone and hope that you are all ready to come in and have coffee when here for your scheduled activities.
May is also Older Americans Month!! The theme for 2021 is Communities of Strength. It is a time to celebrate our seniors and our community. With Proclamations from the Mayor and the County Commissioners, seniors are supported locally. Shelby County strives to empower our seniors with support of the county and city. We want to honor people 60+ and all of their accomplishments. When I look at my role models, I am very blessed in my life to have wonderful grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles. I can even throw some of my favorite teachers in with this group. So if you are fortunate enough to have some great seniors in your lives, you might take a moment to thank them for all their wisdom and guidance in your life. Seniors have a wealth of information and knowledge to share with everyone. We just need to take a moment to listen and learn from them.
The Wednesday and Friday meals provided as ordered at the Shelbyville Horizon Center have started again
